OBRC was founded
by The Ohio State University (OSU), The University of Akron (UA), Battelle,
and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (CCF) in June, 1996 with a $1.45 million
grant from The Ohio Board of Regents Investment Funds to establish a central
bioprocessing facility at OSU and a satellite facility at UA. These facilities
house state-of-the-art laboratory and pilot-scale bioprocessing equipment
and analytical instruments to support bioprocessing education,
research, and technology
development activities in Ohio. The consortium's faculty and staff members
also work with companies to develop and commercialize innovative bioprocessing
technologies and products.
